Three Wheeled Buggies

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on the newborn baby and a 3-year-old child and found it very sturdy. It handled cobbles, grass and rough pavements, aswell as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt sturdy to push, and very stable on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable so need periodic pumping) have suspension built-in which was extremely comfortable for my children.

The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to consider. You will want it to be large enough to accommodate your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies have a lie-flat option that lets your child face you, while other buggies only allow a face-to-parent one.

Wheels with larger diameter

Larger wheels give your buggy more stability while driving on rough terrain. This is perfect for buggies that are off-road. Additionally, they make it easier to manoeuvre the pushchair in tight spaces. A lot of three-wheeled buggies come with swivel front wheels to assist you in maneuvering around tight corners, whereas others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is particularly useful when you bump against trees or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to keep it from hitting it.

Easy to Manoeuvre

One of the main benefits of a three-wheel buggy is that it's much easier to maneuver, especially with a child in the back. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels spin at a whim and are incredibly maneuverable, making them ideal for difficult terrain like cobbles, parks or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her newborn and toddler and wrote: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the terrain and the swivel front wheel particularly useful. I was also amazed by the way it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. It was very stable in the downhills or on uneven terrain."

The only drawback to this amazing maneuverability is that the larger wheels of the 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of when your home is an urban area. If this is a concern then a 4-wheeler might be a better choice for you.

Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also adored the space of the buggy. There's a large, easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for a buggy this small and there's an excellent zip-up pouch on the rear of the seat unit, and even two smaller mesh pockets under the hood to store your keys and phone.
